Jenna Andrews – Unhappy Ending (Solo remix)

Discobelle.net 22 May 2012, 12:38 am CEST

Besides working hard on his newly started Congaloid label, Italian born but London residing producer/dj Stefano Ritteri AKA Solo is busy putting together blissful remixes such as this one of forthcoming single “Unhappy Ending” from Canadian singstress Jenna Andrews.

It might be a slow burner but it’s an excellent slow burner with soulful vocals, a chugging bassline and church bells tolling in the background that has us grooving out here at Discobelle HQ.

STREAM: Teengirl Fantasy - Motif

RCRD LBL 21 May 2012, 9:21 pm CEST

Teengirl Fantasy are prepping a new LP for later this year, and "Motif" is the standalone single set for physical release via R&S on June 5. The package features a B-side called "Eternal" and a remix of the A-side by electronic savior Actress, yet this original oozes and mists into underwater dance territory.

PREMIERE: Choir Of Young Believers - Paint New Horrors

RCRD LBL 21 May 2012, 7:46 pm CEST

(Photo: Nina Mouritzen)

Choir Of Young Believers is on some alternate universe, orchestral ‘50s prom tip on their latest, “Paint New Horrors” and we are so into it! Cold Danish crooning, powder blue strings, straining guitars and an utterly soaring breakdown paint a world that tragically does not, nor ever could, exist (other than in your eardrums). So go ahead, plug in Rhine Gold over on Ghostly and take a sonic trip into the The Twilight Zone.

STREAM: Liars - No. 1 Against The Rush (Vince Clarke Remix)

RCRD LBL 21 May 2012, 7:30 pm CEST

WIXIW, which is pronounced 'wish you,' is the new Liars album coming June 5 via Mute. It's one of the best of the year so far with the ever-artsy band taking a left-turn towards space, texture, electronic experimentation and ultra-personal lyricism. Considering there are so many synths and oddball beats already, the album is also pretty primed for the remix treatment. Here's one from Vince Clarke. It's like he slipped a little ecstasy under the original's tongue.

DOWNLOAD: Crass Mammoth - What’s Left

RCRD LBL 21 May 2012, 6:45 pm CEST

Georgia group Crass Mammoth was technically formed back in 2004 by Joseph Crowe, Matthew Crowe, and Trey Epperson III, but the band has been jamming together since 2002. The group will release its debut full-length later this year via 3qtr, and you can get a sense of the band’s slow-building rock on “What’s Left.” The sparse, largely-acoustic number is an introspective, raw track will have you wondering what’s next.

VEVO: Rival Sons - Face Of Light

RCRD LBL 21 May 2012, 6:00 pm CEST

Los Angeles rock band Rival Sons released its second album, Pressure & Time, last summer. And while the group hasn’t offered up any subsequent new material, they recently re-released the effort along with a bonus DVD. In case you are new to the party, here is a cut from the album called “Face Of Light” – an anthemic acoustic ballad that reveals the group’s more introspective side. Perfect thing to listen to while you mope about it being Monday. Watch the video above and grab the MP3 for free below courtesy of RCRD LBL and VEVO.

DOWNLOAD: Crystal Fighters - I Love London (Is Tropical Broke Arp Mix)

RCRD LBL 21 May 2012, 5:21 pm CEST

This shape-shifting remix of Crystal Fighters' "I Love London" by the mysterious Is Tropical starts in the arena, dives into hyperdrive lo-fi and then settles into a groove of hypnotic clipped sound. It feels international, clubby and tropical here, but the electronics remain gritty and fuzzy enough to appeal to fans of texture. The group has a new EP, P.S. We Love You, that's out May 22 on Kitsuné.

DOWNLOAD: The Tallest Man On Earth - 1904

RCRD LBL 21 May 2012, 3:00 pm CEST

How can Swedish-born singer-songwriter The Tallest Man On Earth capture Americana so well? Don’t know, and it don’t much matter. “1904” gives us a glimpse into the wonder that will be June 12’s There's No Leaving Now; intimate strumming, feather-weight backing and a wonderfully pitched yelp spinning a reminiscent tale so lovely you could pull it around your bony shoulders and walk bravely into the sun.

Jam City – Classical Genesis Mix

Discobelle.net 21 May 2012, 7:06 am CEST

null

UK producer Jam City with a superb new mix for Night Slugs, in anticipation of his upcoming debut album “Classical Curves” which is due to be released May 28th.

“The Classical Genesis Mix demonstrates the type of collision that Jam City has achieved so ingeniously on his debut LP: Frenzied, sweat-drenched machine muzik that belongs just as much on the warehouse floor as it does the silky, twilight world its creator resides in. It’s part mission statement, part tribute, part documentary. Glide with it.”

PK, which hails from San Luis Obispo, California, will offer-up The Lost Boy Sessions EP on May 29. "Some Night" is a melodic rock number led by singer Travis Hawley’s gritty vocals. The track’s classic rock throwback sensibility should appeal to fans of The Gaslight Anthem or Hot Water Music.

Donna Summer – I Feel Love (Altered Natives Tenement 54 remix)

Discobelle.net 19 May 2012, 9:38 pm CEST

RIP Donna Summer.

“Wrote this over a year ago. I tried to get the vocal redone but it never worked or found a vocalist, So it’s been in my bag ever since, in case I ever felt it a good opportunity to drop it. Tbh. I’ve only ever played this out a few times, to nice effect. First time, in Italy to a crowd who went nuts when it became obvious what the song was, then the police came and shut down my set early and they the crowd got upset lol. Anyway im very sad to hear of the loss of Donna Summer. I Feel Love was influential, I’ve always loved that bassline and especially how she ethereally floated over the original. So im putting my version up for you to hear, out of tribute.”
